Continuity Planning
Our primary goals are to assist family shareholders to achieve three concurrent objectives: continuing growth of their business, honoring the integrity of family relationships, and maintaining family control of the enterprise. We help families to enhance communications and relationship skills while focusing on personal estate planning, corporate strategic planning, corporate and family governance, and corporate finance for the enterprise. To assist families with this integrated approach, Narva & Company provides a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals who understand that what the family seeks and what the business needs are continuity of leadership with adherence to core values, improved family harmony, and continuous reinvention of business strategies and tactics.
Coaching for Family Executives
We offer one-on-one coaching and training for both current and future family executives to improve professional leadership skills and specific capabilities as well as to create systems of enhanced collaboration, shared passion and purpose.
Mentoring Programs for the Next Generation
We develop individual, confidential mentoring programs for the younger generation of family members to be listened to, empowered and energized to stretch personally and professionally. Mentors on the Narva Team draw upon a mix of mentoring and coaching strategies in an intuitive, collaborative approach to supporting the next generation of family leaders in the company as well as in family governance roles.
Improving Communication and Family Dynamics
We recognize that communication patterns and relationship dynamics within families play a crucial role in determining both business success and family harmony. Normal family dynamics such as sibling rivalry and intergenerational conflict can sabotage the family enterprise if not addressed and resolved. Our team has deep expertise in these services.
“ My father, Raymond Ackerman, founded Pick ‘n Pay 43 years ago and it has enjoyed sustained growth and success ever since based on core values he brought to the business and his leadership, which has always included a commitment to listening to the best advice available.
As the newly elected Chairman of Pick n Pay, I share that commitment. My father and mother, my sisters and brother and I and our CEO have worked with Richard Narva for more than a dozen years. I have worked closely with him and his team to develop our family governance, professionalize our family philanthropy, strengthen Pick ‘n Pay’s corporate governance and create a world class family office.
Throughout these numerous endeavors they have demonstrated a deep understanding of both our industry and our extended family. And we were introduced to many additional resources, which we have utilized to grow our company and maintain our family’s cohesiveness.”
